Common Accessories: He usually has a katana sheathed at his hip. The sheathe is normally a very simple black, although the hilt and blade can change from time to time.

Personality & Tidbits

The guardian is outwardly very curious, keen-eyed and not at all afraid to say what he truly thinks. Yet he's still adapting to his new environment and has hesitations about interacting with people, which can mask some of his innate cleverness and personality, but there's no denying the spirit is quick to learn. He can be overly possessive on whatever he views is “his,” and is quick to suspicion with certain magics. Due to his nature as a guardian spirit, Shin is also extremely protective and won't hesitate to defend his domain and people within it.

History & Info Snippets

Shin is a former kami that served as a shrine guardian. Whatever happened to the shrine or why it was lost to time is unknown to him. He struggles to remember anything about himself or his previous past. Either due to his former strength helping him last for so long or the nature of his own stubborn beliefs, somehow the kami survived long enough to be found and relocated a couple times. Each relocation threatens to unravel his memories, although he finally managed to lodge himself into a hot springs where he teeters on the edge of recovery and fading away given the lack of awareness from others and his existence.

Any who are sensitive to the spiritual world or magicks would sense something off about Shin, although how much would depend on their own sensitivity. This is especially true when he represents himself as a Miqo'te, due to the fact that the spirit takes great energy and pains to blend in with this form. Right now he's simply trying to embrace his new home, come to terms with his odd place in life and appreciate the fact he did not disappear into nothingness.

RP HOOKS

Shin is open to pretty much any and all RP connections! The only thing to keep in mind is that he cannot leave the hot springs he's attached to currently. I know that his concept might be a bit out there for some, but I am fairly confident I keep him well grounded, flawed and suitable in the world's lore.

Here are some ideas though to help!

+ You are a Curiosity. Shin is bound to gain the curiosity of individuals who either hear about him or cross his path and discover a bit about what he is. He's not opposed to letting people poke at him a bit, although he's also just as likely to be curious about them! The countless variances of people in the world, combined with their experiences and travels are small marvels to the spirit and he will not hesitate to pester someone if they think they'll tell a good story. This hook can go both directions!

+ A Merchant's Mercy. The spirit is familiar with coins, but how is he going to make gil and how the heck would he spend them? Any merchant who comes to the springs might catch Shin's eye, especially if they speak about dealing in tangible goods. If he doesn't have the gil to perhaps work some sort of exchange, then perhaps a favor or trade can be arranged? There are all sorts of shenanigans that can happen!

+ Please Come Back Soon. Again, Shin cannot leave his domain and that is probably part of the reason for his weird hobby of snooping on the neighbors. Any patrons that he meets and finds likeable or interesting could find themselves prodded for stories about their travels.

+ Fire & Magic. Shin is a master of fire and incredibly sensitive to anything spiritual. If your character needs a little extra fire power or is doing some sort of craft that needs carefully regulated temperatures, he could help! He also has magical nuances that can help bless objects, destroy curses and other little cantrips that he views as “mundane.” (Fire is the best, okay?)

Personal RP Style

Genres: My favorites are dark, mature, action, adventure, dramatic and more! I don't mind doing slice of life and softer tones either. I'm in this for the character growth, stories and relations that can form! I am not a fan of overly comedic or silly RP, so apologies if this is your jam! Obviously erotic role play is also fine, considering his location!
Length: This can vary immensely, although generally in-game I do about 2-3 paragraphs. It depends on the situation, content and whether I am in a public or private space. I strongly believe in quality over quantity, however!
Style/Planning: I consider myself a flexible individual who is willing to work with those I RP with and what their comforts may be. I don't mind a be of planning ahead to figure out how characters might be connected or bump into each other! However once the RP begins, I prefer to go with the flow and to see where the bones lie!
